Your Responsibilities as a Mentee

4.1 Overview

Section three looked at the responsibilities of the Mentor. This section looks at your responsibilities.

As a student, you have responsibilities.

Certain things are required of you. They include

  • your attention in class.
  • your preparation of assignments.
  • your participation in class discussions.

So you shouldn't be surprised to find that you will have responsibilities in the mentoring relationship as well.

The following are some of your responsibilities.

  • You will need to pay attention to your Mentor's e-mails.
  • You will make requests of your Mentor.
  • You will respond to your Mentor's e-mails.
  • You will respond regularly and in a timely fashion.
  • In short, you will take an active role in working with your Mentor.

This may sound a bit overwhelming, frightening, or even intimidating. But that's why these training pages are here for you. They help you know

  • what's expected of you.
  • how to get started.
  • what to do if you have questions.

Your greatest responsibility in the mentoring relationship is to yourself. Make sure that you are doing everything you can to get as much as you can from your relationship with your Mentor.
