The Mentoring Lifecycle: Sustain

6.1 Overview

The next stage of your relationship will likely be the longest as you Sustain your mentoring relationship. During this stage you will continue to help your Mentee reach his or her goals.

You will both need some new skills to keep your relationship strong over the long term. These include

  • assessing the health of your relationship.
  • giving feedback.
  • solving problems.
  • determining if you are really making a difference.

These four skills will be discussed in the lessons that follow.
